When you’re beginning something new or approaching a task you’re uncertain about, it’s important to explore the “why” behind your instinct to resist taking action. Let’s pause and contemplate for a moment: Why do you think resistance arises when faced with the unfamiliar?
Many assume resistance stems from fear—fear of change, failure, or uncertainty. But that’s not the case at all.
Resistance is actually the body’s automatic response to encountering something the brain hasn’t gathered enough information about yet. It’s a natural “pause” button, giving you a moment to evaluate whether moving forward is wise.
This is where a shift in perspective is needed. Resistance isn’t something to avoid—it’s an opportunity. It allows us to pause and tune into both our body’s feelings and our intuition. By viewing resistance as a superpower, we can pause mindfully rather than reacting from fear. This intentional pause creates space to assess the situation with clarity, intuition, and self-awareness.
Why is this a superpower?
In our society, fear often becomes the default response to uncertainty. But living in a state of fear limits our ability to experience peace, joy, and growth. Resistance, when used mindfully, becomes a tool for reflection, helping us make decisions aligned with our true selves rather than from fear.
So, which path will you choose? Will you let fear dictate your actions, or will you embrace resistance as a moment to pause, reflect, and move forward with intention?
